FAQs
How long should my hair be?
Hair has many cycles of growth. To get the best results, your hair should be grown out for a minimum of two weeks. The hair should be a minimum of ¼ inch but a little longer will give best results!
Can my hair be too long to wax?
If hair is excessively long, it can cause more discomfort during the wax. Excessively long hair is also at risk for breaking, rather than pulling out with the follicle. If pubic hair is longer than an inch, it can be trimmed at home. I recommend using a scissor, not electric. As electric trimmers can leave the hair TOO short for your appointment.
How do I prepare for my wax?
For best results, skin should be well exfoliated but should NOT be exfoliated on the day of treatment. Skin should be moisturized but please avoid using products such as oil, lotion, powders on wax day!
Avoid alcohol and excessive amounts of caffeine 24 hours before waxing. It can thin your blood and increase the risk of bleeding & sensitivity.
You may take an over the counter pain reliever (i.e. ibuprofen or Tylenol) before your appointment. This can help with pain during the service and inflammation following.
OH NO! I got my period. Can I still come in for my wax?
Totally, No problem over here! Just make sure you have a cup or tampon in to ensure there is no blood on the surface of your skin. I have clients coming during their cycles daily.
What kind of wax do you use?
At Wax Therapy, only the best! I use a soft, soy based wax that is gentle on the skin & safe for all areas of the body.
